About Us
The Australasian Animal Registry (AAR) was established in 1989 and is the largest not-for-profit and most comprehensive animal registration and recovery service in Australasia.

The AAR services all states of Australia and New Zealand. We also maintain details of registered microchipped animals in any country in the world (where owners have moved overseas and may expect to return sometime in the future).

As at 30 June 2002, the AAR maintained records for over 600,000 animals
from across Australia and New Zealand. This includes records on dogs, cats parrots, horses, zoo animals and even ferrets.

Regarded by many as the most reliable animal microchip database across Australasia, the AAR provides an accurate and independent service designed to assist in the speedy recovery of registered animals.

Authorised users are the only ones able to access the animal records for recovery purposes. This includes councils, animal welfare agencies and veterinary practitioners. A secure system of ID numbers and AAR staff training ensure the integrity of this process.

The AAR is a division of the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW (RAS). The RAS has been in existence since 1822 and places high priority on the care and concern of all animals. The AAR follows the guiding principles and policies of its parent organization
